The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 254 calls for service between June 30 and July 6, among which were the following:
June 30
Gas leak: 4:11 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to a gas leak outside of a business in Pacific cleared the building and secured the area until Puget Sound Energy (PSE) could get there. Once PSE and firefighters stopped the gas leak, firefighters turned the scene over to PSE to effect repairs.
July 1
Aid call: 5 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters and King County Medics hustling to help a woman who was complaining of a rapid heart rate and shortness of breath found her feeling faint and agitated. After evaluating the woman and calming her down, personnel left her at home with her family.
July 2
Aid call: 12 p.m., (Lea Hill). After firefighters evaluated on scene a young woman who had “passed out” during class, a private ambulance transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).
July 3
Vehicle fire: 12:06 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a fully-involved vehicle fire with exposure to a second vehicle in a parking lot extinguished the conflagration. A fire investigator was looking into the cause.
July 4
Accident: 11:30 p.m., (Bonney Lake). Responding to a mutual aid call with East Pierce Fire and Rescue for a two-vehicle collision, firefighters examined a little girl with injuries and decided she could go home with her folks.
July 5
Aid call: 2:11 p.m., (Algona). After firefighters and King County Medics responding to a possible near drowning had assessed the toddler involved, a private ambulance transported him or her to a local hospital for more evaluation.
July 6
Garbage can fire: 10:54 p.m., (Auburn). After firefighters extinguished a 55-gallon garbage can fire with no exposure problems, they notified the fire investigator.
