April 20

Recycle pit fire: 4 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to a smoke investigation in the 300 block of West Valley Highway South found a moderate-size fire blazing away in a recycle dump pit, where a car that was being destroyed had accidentally caught on fire.

April 21

Hazardous materials spill: 1:19 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a leaking chemical in the back of a semi-truck trailer determined that a pallet jack had accidentally punctured a 55-gallon drum containing a flammable liquid. Firefighters asked for a hazardous materials team from South King Fire and Rescue to help staunch the leak, and the spill was quickly contained. A private spill mitigation team disposed of the chemical. The environment sustained no damage.

April 22

Aid call: 7:05 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters wrapped up their assessment of a woman who was complaining of abdominal pain, and then transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) for further treatment.

April 23

Smoke investigation: 6:10 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters dispatched to an odor investigation and to a person possibly burning garbage found a resident with an authorized fire in a fireplace. Firefighters reminded said resident to burn only dry wood, no garbage.

April 24

Accident: 4:11 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a two-car accident finished evaluating one driver, a young man, who was complaining of head pain, and a VRFA aid unit transported him to MAMC.

April 25

Car vs. tree: 6:30 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responding to a car into a tree found the teenage driver of the car alone and unhurt. Having checked the kid for injuries, firefighters left him at the scene with Auburn Police.

Aid call: 1:32 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters finished evaluating a senior citizen who was complaining of a rapid heart rate, and then transported her to MAMC.
