The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 192 calls for service between May 7 and May 13, among them the following:
May 7
Aid call: 11:22 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters evaluated a boy at Lea Hill Elementary suffering from respiratory distress before a private ambulance carted him off to Auburn Regional Medical Center.
May 8
Aid call: 1:41 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters helped a man who had dislocated his knee during a sporting event by splinting said knee. A private ambulance transported the man to a local hospital.
May 9
Aid call: 5:34 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responded to an older man suffering from hypotension before King County Medics transported him to Auburn Regional Medical Center.
May 10
House fire: 6:21 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a house fire outside a home found an exterior wall fire that had extended into the interior bedroom in the rear of the structure. A neighbor used a dry chemical extinguisher to partly snuff that conflagration. Unattended cigarettes left on a table outside started the blaze. Firefighters confirmed the flames were out. The Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
May 11
Aid call: 2:51 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters and King County Medics responded to a woman complaining of chest pain. Firefighters treated her, and King County Medics transported her to St. Francis Hospital.
May 12
Fire: 12:01 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a fire in the 2600 block of 19th Place Southeast. Arriving firefighters discovered in a plastic bucket a small fire that had spread to the nearby outside wall surface. A garden hose-wielding bystander put out the fire. Improperly discarded smoking materials likely caused the fire.
May 13
Aid call: 6:41 p.m.. (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responded to an elderly male who had tripped and fallen into a car parked in his garage. The man complained of a sore neck and was fine, but his family wanted firefighters to make sure. Firefighters completed a an exam and advised the man to seek further medical attention if his pain increased.
