Aug. 22

Aid call: 3:35 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters treated a middle-age woman who was complaining of severe chest pain owing to blood clots, and a private ambulance transported her to a local hospital.

Aug. 23

Aid call: 1:22 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters treated a senior citizen who had fallen, and a private ambulance transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) for treatment of his minor injuries.

Aug. 24

Mutual aid: 6:31 p.m., (Milton). Firefighters who’d been heading to Central Pierce Fire Station 73 instead joined East Pierce Fire and Rescue to tackle a residential fire. On arrival, firefighters found a room fire in a second-story bedroom, which they quickly snuffed out. When they searched the house for occupants, firefighters learned everybody who’d been inside was already out.

Aug. 25

Aid call: 8:12 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters treated a young woman who was suffering from a possible anxiety attack and released her to a co-worker for a ride home.

Aug. 26

Aid call: 1:30 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters treated a motorcyclist who’d been racing at Pacific Raceways and crashed. A private ambulance transported the fellow to MAMC.

Aug. 27

Apartment fire: 2:11 p.m., (Lea Hill). Having arrived at the scene of a bedroom fire at the Gentry Walk apartment complex, firefighters entered a second-floor apartment to find a sprinkler system doing its thing – containing the fire to the bedroom area. Firefighters used hose lines to extinguish the remaining fire and prevent it from spreading to other units. The fire displaced two families, whom the Red Cross helped to relocate. VRFA investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.

Aug. 28

Accident, with brush fire: 9:54 p.m., (South Auburn). En route to the 2400 block of Stuck River Drive and an injury accident, crews learned the vehicle had caught fire and flames were spreading to nearby brush. Firefighters extinguished the conflagration, and private ambulances transported two young women to MAMC for treatment of their minor injuries.
