The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Aug. 29 and Sept. 4:
Aug. 29
Minor fire: 7:36 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responded to a small oven fire in the 127th block of Southeast 312th, put that fire out and aired the place. Maintenance secured the power and firefighters turned the building over to them.
Aug. 30
Aid call: 9:06 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics treated an older woman with chest pain and then medics transported her to Auburn Regional Medical Center.
Aug. 31
Aid call: 5:30 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters stabilized a female in the throes of a diabetic emergency before a private ambulance transported her to ARMC.
Sept. 1
Accident: 5:01 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to a two-car accident in the southbound lanes of Highway 167 found two vehicles that had sustained moderate damage and two patients with minor injuries. Firefighters treated and stabilized one person at the scene and a private ambulance transported him or her to ARMC. Firefighters evaluated a second person, treated him or her and left him or her at the scene in stable condition with the Washington State Patrol.
Sept. 2
Aid call: 3:15 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a woman who had been stung by a bee evaluated and treated her at the scene before transporting her in stable condition to ARMC.
Sept. 3
Train derailment: 11:49 a.m., (Auburn). Multiple VRFA units responded to reports of a train derailment. Firefighters arrived in the 900 block of C Street Southwest and found that eight coal-filled train cars had derailed and were leaning off the tracks. Firefighters worked with Burlington Northern Santa Fe employees and quickly determined that there was no immediate hazard. Firefighters turned the scene over to the railroad employees.
Sept. 4
Water leak: 6:21 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters responding to a leaking water main in front of a residence found water seeping through the roadway at a slow pace. Firefighters determined that no danger existed for cars or people in the area. The water department arrived and surveyed the site for repairs.
