The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 210 calls for service between May 2 and May 9, among them the following:
May 2
Windstorm: (Algona, Auburn & Pacific). Firefighters responded to 41 wind-related incidents during the storm, helping with downed tree removal and other debris to help keep roadways passable and providing safe-zones for downed power wires.
May 4
Motor vehicle accident: 4:51 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to an injury accident on southbound Highway 167, north of 15th Street Northeast, an accident involving a total of four vehicles, among them a semi-truck. Firefighters evaluated the injured parties and transported six of them to area hospitals with minor injuries.
May 5
Aid call: 6:59 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responded to a woman suffering a seizure. During the exam, firefighters discovered that the woman had possibly fractured her ankle, so they treated her, and a private ambulance transported her to Auburn Regional Medical Center.
May 6
Aid call: 6:15 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a CPR in progress, rendering basic life support to a person while East Pierce Fire and Rescue Medics and King County Medic One provided advanced life support. Despite the best efforts of medics and firefighters, the patient, whose gender was not given, died at the scene.
May 7
Aid call: 4:30 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters helped an older woman who had fallen and injured her hip. A private ambulance transported the woman to ARMC for further treatment.
May 8
Motor vehicle accident: 9:13 a.m., (Algona). Firefighters responded to a report of a car into a jersey barrier on Highway 167, evaluating and treating one person for injuries. Firefighters transported the person, gender not given, for further evaluation and treatment.
May 9
Automatic fire alarm: 1:40 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of smoke in the third-floor hallway of a multi-family residence located at the 12700 block of SE 312th Street found that the smoke-spewing culprit was unattended food on the stove. Firefighters removed the smoke from the third-floor apartments.
