The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 206 calls for service between May 17 and May 22, among them the following:
May 17
Gas leak: 10 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a propane gas leak found a 500-gallon LPG tank with a ruptured line and free-flowing propane. Firefighters evacuated the immediate area until the propane service company arrived and secured the leak.
May 18
Aid call: 12:36 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to reports of a sick man treated a middle-aged man for dizziness. A private ambulance carted the man off to St. Francis for further evaluation.
May 19
Crush injury: 11:40 a.m., (Auburn). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to a north Auburn business to help a man pinned beneath machinery. Arriving on location, firefighters found that co-workers had freed the man but that he had sustained serious injuries. Firefighters quickly treated the man, and Airlift Northwest transported him to Harborview Medical Center.
May 20
Aid call: 9:01 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a sick infant found a lethargic and unresponsive baby and quickly asked for the help of King County Paramedics. The baby was airlifted to Children’s Hospital.
May 21
Car accident: 6:45 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a two-car motor vehicle accident at the 1500 block of 15th Street Northeast found one woman complaining of neck and back injuries. Firefighters treated the woman for her injuries and transported her to Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC) for additional care.
May 22
Fire alarm: 8:01 a.m., (Pacific). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to an assisted living facility in Pacific for an automatic fire alarm where they learned that staff had burned food on the stove but that the occupants had snuffed that small fire. There was no damage.
May 23
Aid call: 4:40 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to an infant choking at the Supermall. The mother of the baby boy explained that she had been successful in dislodging the item from the infant’s throat and declined aid. Firefighters left the baby in the care of his mother.
