Firefighters from the Valley Regional Fire Authority, South King Fire and Rescue, and King County Medic One participate in nighttime drills at the Auburn Adventist Academy’s Gibson Hall on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Dec. 16.
Drills will begin at 5:30 and conclude around 8 each evening.
Firefighters will train on apparatus operations, search and rescue techniques, ventilation procedures and emergency radio operations. The night training allows firefighters to practice their skills in a challenging but safe environment.
Gibson Hall is the former boys dormitory at the Auburn Adventist Academy. It was constructed in 1946 and is scheduled for demolition sometime in 2014.
The Adventist Academy has generously allowed the VRFA to use the building for the past six months for training purposes. It is possible that emergency vehicles will be visible from Auburn Way South during the training exercises.
