The Valley Regional Fire Authority unveiled its new Ladder 31 at the Lakeland Hills Elementary School carnival last Friday.

The VRFA took possession of the new Rosenbauer-Metz ladder truck last week and promptly rolled the new machine to the carnival to show it off. The truck, which cost more than $1 million, features a 105-foot ladder with bucket, capable of reaching and performing rescues on the rooftops of all the existing buildings in downtown Auburn, according to VRFA spokesperson Kelly Williams.

The state-of-the-art truck also features a 300-gallon water tank and is capable of pumping 1,500 gallons of water per minute. The truck is not in service as it is awaiting the installation of computers and additional tools. When it is completely outfitted, sometime in the next three to five weeks according to the VRFA, Ladder 31 will find a home at Station 31 at 1101 D St. in Auburn.

The truck will make several appearances this summer, including a 7-8 p.m. visit today at the Dick Scobee Elementary carnival as well as a 4-7 p.m. stop Wednesday at the Pacific Police Department open house.
