The Washington Wine Industry Foundation is offering more than $30,000 in scholarships to undergraduate and post-graduate students studying viticulture, enology or related disciplines.
All applications are due Wednesday, March 15.
Scholarships include:
George and Susan Carter Scholarship
New this year, this endowment honors Washington State University researcher and winemaker George Carter and his wife, Susan. Carter worked side by side with his close friend, Dr. Walter Clore. This scholarship was established to assist students of limited means to attain associate, bachelor, or graduate level degrees in viticulture and enology and offers up to $1,000 which will auto-renew until graduation.
Horse Heaven Hills Wine Growers Scholarship
Two scholarships of $2,000 to students who are residents of Benton, Yakima, or Klickitat counties. The scholarship was created by growers and vintners dedicated to promoting education in grape growing and wine production.
Walter J. Clore Scholarship
Established by the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers, in honor of Dr. Clore’s grape research and lifetime achievements in viticulture and enology. The number of awards is determined annually and scholarships range from $500-$2,000.
WWIF Foundation Fund Scholarship
The Foundation Fund was established as an endowment by the Board of Directors. The number of awards is determined annually but can be up to five scholarships and up to $5,000 each.
The Washington Wine Industry Foundation manages scholarships, funds and grants, while developing resources to support strengthening the future of the Washington wine industry by advancing education, research, and leadership. Since 2008, the Foundation awarded over $168,000 to 133 students for education in the grape and wine industry.
