The City of Auburn’s contracted solid waste hauler, Waste Management, assumes collection and disposal of solid waste on March 1 in the Pierce County annexation area of Auburn, excluding the southeast portion that was annexed in 2005.

At the time the area was annexed into the Auburn, Murrey’s Disposal had a G-Certificate to operate in the area. The law provides that existing franchises are in force for a period of at least seven years following annexation. The franchise period has expired and Murrey’s Disposal will discontinue service on Feb. 29.

Residents in the Pierce County Annexation Area will be billed by the City of Auburn for solid waste services effective March 1. Residents in this area will now have recycle collection at no additional cost, glass bottles and jars collected in recycle, weekly compostables collection with subscription, and monthly billing.
