Wings, past and present

Community takes in Airport Appreciation Day | PHOTOS

The community got up close to airplanes of all shapes and sizes, joining airport staff and volunteers for Airport Appreciation Day last Saturday at the Auburn Municipal Airport.

Families and aviation enthusiasts took in planes, aircraft displays, a specialty vintage hydroplane and food.

The Washington Pilots Association (WPA) accepted donations for its scholarship fund. The WPA, City of Auburn, the Aviation Management Group, and local airport tenants sponsored the event.

Auburn Municipal Airport, which began operations in 1969, is one of the busiest of its kind in the state.
