The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 253 calls for service between Nov. 30 and Dec. 6, among them the following:
Nov. 30
CPR in progress: 12:35 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County medics were en route to help an unconscious man while giving instructions to the family on how to perform CPR. When they arrived and found him without a pulse, they continued CPR and resuscitation efforts during Medic One’s transportation of the man to a local hospital.
Dec. 1
Commercial structure fire: 5:38 a.m., (Pacific). Valley Regional, Puget Sound and South King Firefighters responding to the old Cool’s Café building for a reported fire arrived to find smoke pouring out from the building. Crews initially attempted an aggressive attack on the fire, but when conditions changed, crews backed out and began defensive fire operations, applying water and using an excavator to extinguish the fire. Firefighters turned the building over to its owner after investigators had determined the origin and cause.
Accident: 11:35 p.m., (Auburn). VRFA firefighters and King County paramedics responding to a serious accident on northbound Highway 167 at Ellingson Road arrived to find a dump truck, a pick-up and a motorcycle on fire, two people dead, and a third person who had sustained minor scratches, but did not want to be evaluated.
Dec. 3
Aid call: 12:30 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responding to an ailing infant treated the tiny child at the scene before her parents transported her to her pediatrician for further care.
Dec. 4
Aid call: 4:05 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics treated on scene a man who had been assaulted with a machete, and medics transported him to Valley Medical Center.
Dec. 5
Stabbing: 4:15 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters and King County Medics helped a middle-aged man who had been stabbed, and then transported him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Dec. 6
Aid call: 7:20 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters helped a middle-aged woman who had mistaken super glue for eye drops, and had glued her eyelid to her eyeball with the eyelid completely shut. A private ambulance transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).
Overdose: 2:02 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters treated a girl who had overdosed on fentanyl before a private ambulance transported her to MAMC.
