The YMCA of Greater Seattle and Auburn Youth Resources are offering free GED (general educational development) tutoring for youths 16-21.

Sessions are 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Mondays and Tuesdays at the Auburn Youth Resources Drop-in Center, 915 H St., Auburn, behind the main AYR building, next to White River Valley Museum.

Participants are able to receive personalized, one-on-one tutoring as they review basic skills and learn helpful test-taking techniques.

The GED is a series of tests recognized as the equivalent to a high school diploma. The GED is broken into five tests that cover the same subjects taught in high school.

Tutoring from the Y’s trained staff offers youth valuable support in learning the subjects necessary to complete the GED and begin a path to career success.

The tutoring is open to the public and youth are encouraged to drop in for instruction. Staff can connect participants to WIA Case Management Services which can be helpful to youth in paying for their GED testing.

“We’re very excited to bring this needed service to youth in Auburn and the surrounding communities in south King County,” said Chris Tugwell, regional director for the Y’s Education, Employment & Technology Programs. “It’s a privilege to work alongside young people and support them as they pursue their educational goals.”
