Urban ArtWorks, a local non-profit organization that works with at risk youth to produce public art, will be dedicating a youth-created mural in the heart of Auburn at 4 p.m. today. The mural is located on the rear wall of the Auburn 1 Collision building, 233 W. Main St.
Mayor Pete Lewis will be on hand to assist in recognizing youth artists. The ceremony is open to the public.
The mural, titled “Mountains and Rivers Without End” was painted this summer during Artworks’ summer program for local at risk youth, a joint project of the King County Superior Court’s Community Programs, Auburn Youth Resources/Severson House, the City of Auburn Arts, Parks and Recreation and ArtWorks. The mural features images that reflect Auburn’s natural beauty, with trees, butterflies and Mount Rainier. The mural was designed by ArtWorks’ artist Jesse Brown.
