Don W. Larberg

Don W. Larberg

Life long resident of Auburn, Don Larberg died on July 24, 2010 at Hospice House in University Place after a short battle with lung cancer. He was 83 years old. After graduating from Auburn High School in 1944, Don served in the Navy during World War II. He then attended the University of Washington receiving a degree in Business. Don joined his father and helped run the family grocery business in Auburn until 1964. After that, he worked in securities and sales before retiring in 1986. Don was preceded in death by Joan, his wife of 49 years, who died in 2005. Don’s passions in life always included his family and friends, and nearly always had something to do with sports and athletics. He was awarded 9 letters in football, basketball, and track at Auburn HS and ran track at the University of Washington for three years. A proud Husky football fan, he was a 50-year season ticket holder. His sports allegiance extended to the Seahawks, Sonics, and Mariners. He enjoyed skiing, golf, and horseracing. He cherished his granddaughters and spent as much time as he could with them, including watching them play sports and attending their school activities. Don and his wife loved dancing, their annual ski trips to Sun Valley, and “tailgating” at Husky games with friends, fans, and family. Don is survived by his three sons Gary (Catherine) of Arizona, Ron of Puyallup, and Dave (Jeannie) of Lake Tapps, and 4 granddaughters, Jordan, Logan, Sierra, Samantha. A memorial service will be held at Price Helton Funeral Home in Auburn on Saturday August 7 at 1:00 pm.
