Donald H. Melin

Auburn native Donald H. Melin passed away Oct. 2 at the age of 89. Mr. Melin was born Nov. 8, 1920 in Tacoma to Herman and Marguerite Melin. He was raised in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School in 1939. Mr. Melin served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II. He worked as a photographer in the service and in the family business, Melin Studio in Auburn. He also was a field office manager in construction and worked in real estate sales in Washington and in California. He was a member of King Solomon Lodge No. 60, Free & Accepted Masons, and Robert B. Palmer Chapter No. 46 of Royal Arch Masons in Auburn. He also volunteered with and was a member of the White River Historical Society as well as a past president of the Auburn Jaycees and the North Lake Improvement Club. Mr. Melin was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dorothy Watt and his brother Robert Melin. He is survived by a cousin, Marjory Cashman, of Parkland; brother-in-law Richard Watt of Auburn; and nieces and nephews in Washington and in Texas. At his request, no services are planned; inurnment is at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn. Memorials may be made to the White River Historical Society.
