Doris Verna (Johnson) Rood

January 9, 1924 – November 14, 2015

Doris passed away November 14, 2015 at the Mary Adult Family Home in Auburn, WA. Doris was surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born in Remus, Michigan to Ernest and Blanche Johnson. She married Vincent Rood, October 1941 in Valparaiso, Indiana. They were married 61 years. In 1961 they moved to Issaquah, Washington when Vincent took a position with the Boeing Company. The Family moved to Auburn in 1966.

Doris was employed at the Issaquah Villa and Valley Villa for several years until retirement. Doris enjoyed traveling, crafts and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a great cook and had limitless energy. Doris was a very warm and kind person to everyone. She will be remembered for her great laugh, beautiful smile and those sky blue eyes. She was loved by many and will be missed beyond measure.

She was preceded in death by her husband Vincent Rood, her parents, brother Ray Johnson of all Bay City, MI and granddaughter Theresa (Rood) Helfenstein.

She is survived by her five children, Linda Hash (Gary) Auburn, Vincent Rood Jr. (Karen) Rolling Prairie, IN, Darrell Rood (Judie, deceased) Orting, WA, Douglas Rood (Margie) La Porte, IN, Carol Ludwig (Richard, deceased) Mich. Doris is also survived by her sister, Lucille Sapp, Boulder, CO, 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces & nephews.

Viewing on Thursday, November 19 from 5pm to 8pm at Curnow Funeral Home, Sumner, WA. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Sumner, WA, Friday, November 20 at 1:00 P.M. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Auburn, WA.
