Dorothy S. Davis, age 88, of Fennimore, WI passed away Wednesday, June 21st, 2023, in Eau Claire, WI. She was born on July 12th, 1934 the daughter of Lars and Bertha (Kuster) Skaar.
After graduating from High School, Dorothy attended “Trinity School of Nursing” in Minot, ND and did her training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She then returned home to Stanley, ND where she met and was married to Arlen Davis in 1957. They moved to Auburn WA where she continued her nursing career at Auburn General Hospital in the emergency department. She remained there for many years until transferring to a Private Practice Clinic in the same town.
Dorothy was a stubborn, strong and independent woman who was very outspoken and made no bones about giving her opinion… (whether you liked it or not! ) She was always willing to help anyone in their time of need and many felt her endless love and care.
As her health declined and Alzheimer’s took her away from us, we are thankful to God that He answered our prayers and did not allow her to suffer any longer. She is finally at peace and at home with our Heavenly Father.
Thank you to those who called to check in and support us during the past two years. We also want to thank the staff of “St. Croix Hospice” for their loving and compassionate care that mom received from them during her last month.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Julie (Howard) Herman of Eau Claire, Yvonne (Travis) Mulrooney of Bagley, grandchildren: Roger, Lindsay, Andrea, Joshua, Rebecca, Amber, Angela, Ashley, Cassandra, Michael, David, Janine, Janelle, numerous great-grandchildren and her sister, Shirley McCloskey.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband Arlen, her only son Duane, her parents Lars and Bertha Skaar, brother Lars “Bud” Skaar, sisters, Donna, Deloris, Joan, Carol and Rosemary.
A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in rural Fennimore.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
