Elaine Marilyn Ferry Schaffer

Elaine Marilyn Ferry Schaffer, age 79, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009, at her home.She was born April 29, 1930 in Spokane, Washington to Floyd James Ferry and Edna Fay Schwandt Ferry. She graduated from West Valley High School and entered into the study of nursing at Deaconess Hospital Nursing School in Spokane. She graduated in 1950, earning her R.N. diploma. She married Herbert Paul Schaffer on August 10, 1950 in Sedro Woolley, Washington. Elaine was a member of Renaissance Village Bible Class Mission of Hope Church of Flower Mound. She retired from Auburn General Hospital in 1983, having served as the night shift supervisor for nearly 20 years.Elaine is survived by their children, Dr. William Allen Schaffer, Bernard James Schaffer, Rebecca Schaffer Lane and Reverend Robert Paul Schaffer; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Ferry Grimes and brother Harlan James Ferry. Her husband preceded her on December 22, 2008. Her brother, Weldon Curtis Ferry also preceded her on February 6, 1990.A memorial service to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at Renaissance Village, 1716 S. Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, Texas 75067. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions made to the Whitworth University, 300 Hawthorne Road, Spokane, Washington 99251.
