Frank Purple passed away, with family by his side, on July 13, 2018 at his son Jim Purple’s house in Auburn. He was 85 years old.
Frank was born in Burien, Washington and was raised in Auburn. Frank attended Auburn High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951. He served four years and was stationed on Guam. He married Sue McLane in 1956 and settled in Auburn, where they raised their five children. They resided in Auburn for 36 years and moved to Anderson Island in 1992. Frank owned and operated a masonry business and retired on the island.
Frank loved the peaceful island life and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid outdoors man, enjoying fishing, hunting, hiking and gardening. He was truly loved by all of his family and will be missed by his children Jim Purple, Ron Purple, Sheri Boyer, and Rob Purple as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
