George Michio Nakata
George Michio Nakata, 64, of Auburn died Thursday, February 23, 2012 peacefully in his home with his wife of 33 years, by his side. He leaves his wife, Mary Ellen (Walsh) Nakata; son, Gregory M. Nakata of New York; daughter, Lisa (Nakata) Burney of North Carolina; mother, Miyo J. Nakata; sister, Keiko (Nakata) Thompson; and his brother, Jimmy M. Nakata, of Hawaii. George was born in Okinawa, Japan to Takeo and Miyo Nakata. He was raised in Hawaii where he later met Mary Ellen. George was a war veteran of the Vietnam War for which he served in the U.S.M.C. attaining the rank of lance corporal. He was employed by United Airlines for 27 years as an aircraft mechanic at Sea-Tac Airport.George had a passion for cooking and loved making futomaki sushi. He enjoyed traveling around the world for work and with his family, listening to classical music, woodworking, and flying light aircraft.
