Gerald C. Lybeck Jr was born in Minot, North Dakota on December 7, 1954. When he was 3 years old, he moved with his mother, sisters Debi and Jayne and brother Lory to Auburn, Washington by train. Jerry Sr drove a large truck loaded with their belongings arriving almost the same day in Seattle at Janet’s parents’ winter home.
Jerry Jr attended all his school years in the Auburn School District graduating from Auburn High School in 1973. Jerry worked at several jobs in Seattle with the longest stretch at Boeings. After a while he entered into his line of work of Carpentry. He helped build many of the office buildings and homes in the Seattle/Tacoma area. He had a gift for detailed finishing work on cabinets and railings. He would create unique designs only he could envision. His mother is now the proud owner of a beautifully designed kitchen ceiling and walls.
Jerry was baptized in the Lutheran church in Mohall, North Dakota and went through his Sunday School and confirmation years at Messiah Lutheran Church in Auburn. His family was very important to Jerry. His relatives here and in North Dakota meant a lot to him. He was respected and loved by many friends both here and in North Dakota.
Most of all he was loved and admired by his family who have ministered to him with loving concern during this long and painful ordeal. He is now mourned by his loving mother Janet, brother Lory, sisters Debi and Jayne, his Aunt and godmother Alma, Uncle Bill, nieces and nephews as well as his other aunts and uncles and many cousins on both sides of the family, here and in North Dakota.
He has many friends that will miss him but can be happy thinking of the fun times they had and that Jerry no longer has to live in pain. Those who knew and cared for him at The Cottages of Renton home enjoyed his sense of humor so much the short time he spent there before his death on Friday, July 29th.
