Leonard Stanley Olenginski

Leonard passed away on October 20, 2008 at the age of 82. Born July 12, 1926 in Glen Lyon, PA. Len was raised there and graduated from Newport High School in Pennsylvania. After high school, Len enlisted in the Navy and served his tour of duty in the Philippines during World War II. Next, Len attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. While there, Len also earned a ROTC scholarship from the United States Air Force. After returning home to help his family for a few years, he attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and earned a Master Degree in Engineering. Yearning to use his skills, Len moved to Seattle to begin a long engineering career with the Boeing Company. In Boeing, Leonard worked on several airplane, Department of Defense, and NASA programs. While in the Seattle area, Leonard met and married his lovely wife, Josephine Rosati. Leonard soon moved to Auburn with his wife and started a family. He was actively involved in his children’s school activities, politics, and a dedicated member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, extensive vocabulary, strong political views, and support of his family. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine; brother, Sylvester; and his parents, Adam and Mary. His is survived by his three children, Paul, Rosemary, and Stan (wife Barbara) and one grandchild, Joseph.An evening vigil will be conducted at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, October 24 at 7:00 PM with a funeral service at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, October 25 at 11:00 AM.
