Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother

Loretta, a lifelong Auburn resident, died at the age 96, February 5, 2011. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Loretta was born November 18, 1914 in Boardman, Michigan and was the daughter of Ernest and Gertrude Olin. She graduated from Auburn High School and worked in Seattle at the North Pacific Bank Note Company for 27 years During World War II, she worked as a riveter for Boeing building B-17s. She also volunteered on the King County Election Board and made a great many lasting friendships during her years of service. Loretta is predeceased by husbands Gordon Colson and Sherman Hoober. She was one of five siblings and is survived by a sister, Margaret Brand of Belleville, Illinois, and two children, Jacqueline Iddings and Ron Colson, as well as a stepson, Dan Hoober. Loretta valued family and friends above everything. She was fiercely devoted to her 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who basked in her unconditional love and could always count on her Gravenstein applesauce and strawberry jam. In 2005, at the age of 90, she served in the Pioneer Queen’s Court for Auburn Good Ol’ Days. A Memorial service will be held February 26th at 1:00 at Yahn and Son Funeral Home, 55 West Valley Highway South, Auburn Washington.
