Loretta M. Lucas Briggs
Loretta M. Briggs beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend died on Monday, October 26, 2009. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 7, 1937 in Seattle, Washington.Loretta lived most of her life in Auburn. She spent 14 years in Omak, Washington (1977-1991) where she and Dick owned and operated the Briggs Sporting Goods Store. She later owned and operated Ms. B’s T’s. At this point it was time for her to get back to Auburn to return to the family and community she loved.Loretta is survived by her husband of 54 years Richard E. Briggs, her son Bob Briggs (Laura), her six daughters, Dianne Briggs, Louanne Briggs, Sherry Hagerty (Keith), Kelly Muttart (Rick), Sue Risley (Rob), and Georganne Logan (Kirby). Her legacy is her large family including her 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brothers Wilbur and Garl Lucas, sister Lynn Smith and her last maternal uncle, Edmen Goldsbary. Her extended family including her in-laws, many nieces, nephews and cousins were part of her daily life. Her parents and a grandson preceded her in death. Loretta will forever be remembered by her grandchildren as “Grandma Frog.” She is also remembered for her passion of family and the many family events she planned and orchestrated. She loved to crochet and knit, she enjoyed her Bunco group and her trips to Las Vegas. A memorial service was held earlier in the week.
