Marie K. Hutchens

Marie K. Hutchens was born into a pioneer family in Garfield County, WA on November 15, 1917 and passed away on June 16, 2012 in Auburn, WA.She was the 8th of 13 children and attended a 1 room school house through the 8th grade. Five years later she appealed to the state of WA to attend high school. In 1940 she graduated at the age of 23. She attended business college and worked all of her adult life, including at the Atomic Energy Commission, the U of W and other businesses.She was an active member of the Eagles in Auburn and enjoyed doing all of the auxiliary activities, which became a major part of her life. She enjoyed camping, gardening, traveling, dancing and cooking as well. She is survived by her daughter; Nancy Church (Boyce), daughter-in-law; Donna Hutchens, daughter; Sandra Fuller, son; Doug Hutchens, brothers: Gilbert, Robert and Donald Koller, 6 grandsons, 3 great grandsons, 1 great granddaughter and 29 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy R. and son Dick Hutchens.A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at noon at Price-Helton Funeral Home with a viewing to begin at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Lyons Club for the Hearing Impaired.
