Marjorie passed away on December 17, 2023 in Poulsbo, Washington at the age of 87 following a long battle with Alzheimers disease. Marjorie was born in 1936 in Viroqua, Wisconsin to parents Clarence and Goldie Ladwig. She grew up on a dairy farm near the Mississippi River between the towns of Genoa and Victory, Wisconsin. She attended a one room country school for the first 8 grades, and high schools in Viroqua and DeSoto, Wisconsin. After high school Marjorie attended the University of Wisconsin in LaCrosse, Wisconsin for two years. She then taught in two different one- room country schools. Marjorie married Roger Gillette in 1957 while still teaching. After Roger’s graduation from the University of Wisconsin in 1959 the couple moved to Seattle and raised a family of three children. After raising the children she taught elementary students at Kent Elementary School for a number of years. She enjoyed tennis, hiking, skiing, travel, playing cards with friends, and many other activities. Marjorie has been a member of both P.E.O. Sisterhood and an Orthopedic Guild in Auburn for many years.
Marjorie is survived by her husband Roger; daughter Dawn Pichler(Husband Louis); sons Bryan (wife Stephanie) and Scott (wife Christi); grandchildren Ross Garinger (wife Kristina), Nicole Hamblet (husband Michael), Derek Gillette (wife Chanaw), Dena Bateman (husband Brad), Lydia Gillette, and Maren Gillette; eight great grandchildren; brothers Marlin Ladwig, Kermit Ladwig (wife Linda), Larry Ladwig (wife Carol); and sister JoAnn Jaenke (husband Gordon). She survived her older sister Donna Ferrell.
Marjorie and her husband Roger have been members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Moines, Washington since it was founded in 1963. Remembrances can be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran School at the church.
We are especially thankful for the care Marjorie received at Harbor House Memory Care facility in Poulsbo the final three years of her life.
Interment will be at the Auburn Mountain View Cemetery at a date to be determined.
