Marjory Dell Schulte
Marjory Dell Schulte (aka Marge, Granny and Demps) was born to Oren Clyde Payne and Nettie Payne in Glenrock, Wyoming on August 25, 1918. The family moved to Wisconsin and then to northern Alberta. Marge married J. Henry (Hank) Schulte on May 15, 1937, and they moved to Pacific, Washington in 1945. She passed away on June 23, 2012, at Regency Auburn Rehabilitation Center in Auburn, Washington.She loved gardening, ceramics, knitting, crocheting, painting, reading, and spending time with family and friends. From the time her children started school, she was very involved with the Auburn School District and remained active when her grandchildren and great grandchildren were in school. She was instrumental in starting the APEC program in the Auburn School District and was recognized by the Auburn School Board for her dedication and work with kids. For the past 55 years, she was known as Granny to all her grandchildren, their friends, and the neighborhood kids. Every child loved to go see Granny because she always had two or three kinds of home-made cookies lined up in cookie jars in the pantry. She was the person who had all the answers and could solve any problem from nursing an injured bird or bunny back to life, to clipping chickens’ wings, to getting rid of lice! She is survived by her daughters, Audrey Cruickshank of Pacific, Washington and Susann Gunderman (Raymond) of Sebring, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and numerous great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death in 1994 by her husband of 56 years and her son, Floyd; brothers Loren, Dwight (Hoolie), Leonard (Barney), Payne and sister Cloe Day.At her request there will be no funeral service. A memorial service to celebrate Marge’s life will be held at Audrey’s house on Saturday, August 25, beginning at noon. Remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice.
