NANCY RUSSELL NIXON

Nancy Russell Nixon (Keaton) passed away on July 19, 2019 at the age of 93. Born on May 9, 1926 in Snohomish, WA, Nancy attended the College of Puget Sound before marrying John D. Nixon on February 9, 1945. In 1957 the couple made their home in Auburn, WA, where they opened the Valley Hardware and Surplus Store and raised four children.

Nancy and John were beloved members of their community and Auburn First United Methodist Church. Lifelong volunteers, they served local youth and refugees and immigrants from countries such as Vietnam, Ukraine, Mexico, and Kosovo. Nancy spent her last years reading, watching birds outside her window, chatting with her sister, and enjoying time with her great-grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by daughter Mary Ann DeMoss; grandson Adam Nixon; granddaughters Jessica Sericolo, Kaila DeMoss, and Angela Nixon; five great-grandchildren; and four great- great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband John Nixon; sons John Nixon Jr. and James Nixon; daughter Nancy Louise Nixon; and sisters Sarah Park and Linda Keaton. Sister Susan Piper followed closely behind her in death.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Auburn on September 7, 2019. Contact the church regarding time.
