Nellie B. Hollingsworth

Beloved wife, Mother and Grandmother Nellie, 98 years of age, was born May 3, 1913 in Saxon, WA and passed away May 28, 2011 in the presence of loving family members. Nellie was one of eight children born to Kenneth and Alice Howell of Van Zandt, WA. In December 1928 Arthur Hollingsworth and his parents, friends of the Howell family, drove to Van Zandt for a visit at Christmas time. Arthur upon seeing Nellie for the first time decided then and there she would become his wife. Two days later they eloped and were married January 2, 1929. They made their home in Pacific, WA where they lived throughout their entire marriage, which lasted 78 years until Arthur’s passing in 2006 at 101 years of age. The marriage produced four sons, William, Duke, Patrick and George; including 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Nellie was a homemaker, a nurse’s aid for 22 years, and an election judge official for the town of Pacific for 50 years… She loved the holidays with large family gatherings which were an annual family tradition…Nellie was truly loved and admired for her quiet strength and devotion of her family, friends and loved ones. A memorial service for Nellie and celebration of her life will be held at the Pacific Senior Center in Pacific on Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 2pm-5pm. She would appreciate any donations in her remembrance be made to the Pacific Senior Center…Thank you.
