Nettie Strichard Berk

Nettie Strichard Berk, 78, died Dec. 15, 2010 at Carrington Nursing Home in Starkville, MS. She was born Oct 16, 1932 in The Bronx, NY to Otto and Rose Strichard. In the early 1950s Nettie and her family moved to Miami, FL. Shortly thereafter she met her husband, Fred Berk, and they were married in 1955. She worked as an executive administrative assistant in several jobs, most recently with the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County and the State Attorney of Palm Beach County. She retired in 2004. Nettie lived in Century Village in Pembroke Pines, FL from 1999-2006 and then in The Peninsula in Hollywood, FL from 2006 to 2009. Two years ago she moved to Starkville, MS where she lived at Montgomery Gardens. Nettie is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Fred; her parents; and her sister Elizabeth Brown.Nettie leaves to cherish her memories: two children: Janice Berk Nelson of Auburn, WA and Michael Berk (Trish) of Starkville, MS; three grandchildren: Rebecca Nelson of Auburn, WA and Evanston, IL; Jamen Berk of Starkville, MS; and Matthew Berk of Starkville, MS; one sister: Naomi Cherrick (Henry) of Davie, FL; one brother: Charles Strichard of Miami, FL; one brother-in-law: Edward Brown of Miramar, FL; one sister-in-law: Loraine Friedman of Aventura, FL; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
