Patricia Maureen Young

7/7/37 – 9/14/08

Patti graced the world with her entrance on July 7, 1937. The Lord blessed us with her presence for 71 years, until He took her into her heavenly home on Sunday, September 14, 2008.A life-long resident of Auburn, Patti was born in the home of her beloved grandparents, William & Clara Gwinn, to mother Dorothy Francis Gwinn. She was an active member of King’s Teens and graduated from Auburn High School in 1955.Patti met her life-long love, Eddie Ross Young in 1954, the beginning of one of the greatest love stories ever told. Married on September 28, 1956, Patti & Eddie were the picture of wedded bliss. They lived their love, every day of their 52 year marriage. The blessings of their 2 children, Rick & Lisa, daughter-in-law Nancy, and 3 grandchildren only enhanced their love and their lives together. Her family was first and foremost her biggest joy in life. Some of her favorite times were the holidays spent together, when she relished in taking pictures of the beautifully dressed holiday table, or playing a rousing few rounds of Pinochle. She enjoyed all types of card games and puzzles, as well as watching the horses at Emerald Downs, NASCAR, and playing at the casino. Patti had a love of poetry that she shared with her eldest granddaughter, and was always game to sing old children’s songs such as “Aba DabaHoneymoon” for anyone who asked. She loved to watch old Lawrence Welk reruns, and Dancing with the Stars, had an expansive collection of “Weeping Gold”, and never saw an angel that she didn’t adore. She and her husband loved to spend time together, whether looking at their lovely rose-garden, or marveling at the splendid sunsets at the beach house in Birch Bay.Patti is survived by her loving husband Eddie, son Rick and his wife Nancy, daughter Lisa, grandchildren Becky, Katie, Eric and his wife Savannah, her precious dog Angel Baby, her brother Jerry and his wife Vicki, and vast extended family and friends that all loved and will miss her mightily. Her Home-going Celebration will be held Saturday, September 27th, from 1:30 – 5:00 p.m., at the Best Western Park Plaza Hotel, 620 South Hill Park Drive, Puyallup, WA. All family and friends are welcome to come and celebrate her Life with us. In lieu of flowers or a memorial fund please make donations to the American Cancer Society. Always remember to “make a memory today for tomorrow.”
