Robert (Bob) F Mittelstadt (along with twin brother William (Bill)) was born on November 8, 1942, to Norbert and Mary Mittelstadt in Beaver Dam Wisconsin. Bob passed away from complications of Parkinson’s disease on August 6th, 2022, at age 79, in Auburn Washington.
As a young boy, Bob moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where he attended Sheboygan Area Schools. He graduated in the 1st class of the new South High School with the class of 1961.
Bob went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While attending UW he met the love of his life and best friend, Roxie Rhode who just happened to also be from Sheboygan. They were married in 1966 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Bob then took his 1st job at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle Wash- ington. He returned in the early 70’s to help his father with his Plymouth Die Mold company in Sheboygan. Bob eventually returned again to work at Boeing Aircraft in the mid 70’s. Soon afterward Bob and Roxie moved to Auburn Washington into their new home. They stayed in Auburn for the rest of their lives.
Bob thoroughly enjoyed his career at Boeing. His accomplishments included numerous patents such as:
• Feb. 14, 1989: Aircraft landing light alignment system – The Boeing Company
• April 4, 2000: Hand assisted lamination system – The Boeing Company
He contributed much more as he worked his way to becoming a Senior Fellow where he continued contributing until he eventually retired.
He and Roxie enjoyed many years of “RV” wintering in Palm Springs. Here they made many “best friends” whom they spoke of often. Bob enjoyed working with stained glass and became very good at creating stained glass lamps. He also enjoyed cooking, smoking meats, having many household projects, problem solving and helping others. Bob was known for his good nature, humor, and very organized personality. Bob was a wonderful friend and very generous with his time and help.
He is survived by his brother Greg (Linda) Mittelstadt Plymouth WI, sister-in-law, Sandy Mittelstadt Sheboygan Falls, WI, and several nieces and nephews.
Roxie died 9 months before Bob, and she was sorely missed.
