Dr. Robert I. Shapard

Robert Irvin “Bob” Shapard, MD, 87, died at the VA hospital in Tucson on November 4, 2009. He was born August 19, 1922 in Douglas to Joshua & Lois Shapard.He graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1952, did his internship at Doctor’s Hospital in Seattle, then settled into general practice in Auburn, WA where he remained until his retirement in 1980. He was chief of staff at Auburn Hospital. Bob is survived by his wife, Mildred I. Shapard; sons, Paul (Gina) Shapard, Thomas (Jeanine) Sauro, William (Nancy) Sauro, James (Donna) Sauro; and 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Lois. No services are planned. His ashes will be spread in the Pacific Ocean.
