Winifred Lee Dinwiddie
Lifelong Auburn resident, Winnie Dinwiddie, passed away on March 3, 2016 at Multicare Auburn Medical Center just short of her 90th birthday.
Winnie was born at home in Auburn on March 21, 1926 to Fred and Lillian Towner. She attended Auburn schools and upon graduation, married Landon Dinwiddie, her husband of over 52 years. She worked briefly for the family business (Modern Cleaners), the Rainbow Café, and Auburn Avenue Theater. Later, she worked for many years at Auburn General Hospital.
Winnie enjoyed her bridge group, reading, her good friends and her immediate and extended family. She volunteered for the March of Dimes, Children’s Orthopedic Guild, as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and in the women’s guild at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Margaret Thorp and Mac Towner, her husband, Landon, and her special friend, George Whale. She is survived by her children, James David Dinwiddie of Steamboat Springs, CO and Stacy Lynn Bowie (Craig) of Aurora, CO, grandson Gareth Bowie, her sister Kathrine Hansen, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 19, 2016 at 1:00PM at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 123 L St. NE Auburn, WA.
