Yoka Ansingh
Yoka, 85, passed away on November 16, 2014 at home after an 11-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born in Jakarta, Indonesia where her father worked for the Coast Guard. She was interred during the war during the Japanese occupation and traveled back to Holland in 1946, where she attended high school and college to eventually work for the New Zealand Consulate in The Hague.
She became engaged and subsequently married her high school sweetheart, Herman Ansingh and they immigrated to the United States in 1958 after his graduation from medical school, first moving to Seattle for his further training in surgery. They moved to Auburn in 1963 where she was active in the community through Auburn Youth Resources and PEO.
She was preceded in death by a son, her parents, and her brother. She is lovingly remembered by her three sons, their wives, grand children and great grand children.
