Let’s clarify

P. Larson’s facts were wrong again in a letter on Sept. 9 about the Zika funding bill the U.S. House passed in June.

In order to change the debate from fighting Zika and funding for our military, which is exactly what the bill does, Larson suggested the bill somehow defunds Planned Parenthood.

That is absolutely false. Senate Democrats blocked the Zika funding bill because, according to the Congressional Research Service, some believe Planned Parenthood may not be able to get some of the new Zika funding. That is all their obstruction is about – the possibility of one organization that has nothing to do with Zika research not getting their hands on more federal dollars. They wouldn’t lose a single cent if the bill passed.

I am proud that Dave Reichert is working to ensure our safety. Are you proud that the Democrats blocked an important bill over an issue that doesn’t exist? I’m not.
