Regarding Jerry Cornfield’s commentary, “Unorthodox Trump to go down swinging in our state” (Aug. 19, Auburn Reporter): I agree when he said that Donald J. Trump will lose in the state of Washington this November. And that he’ll get “walloped” in Seattle.
That’s a given. Washington is a Democrat state, and the city of Seattle is the bluest of the blue among cities in the United States. Reading The Seattle Times is proof of that. You can never read an article or an opinion column in this newspaper that favors Trump. Each and everyone wallops and degrades the man. And I think that’s sad. Mainstream newspapers shouldn’t show that kind of one-sided write-ups.
It’s true that Trump is usually politically incorrect and “unorthodox” with his words. He tells it like it is. He’s often sarcastic. We, the silent majority in this country, believe that’s a part of his personal appeal. And we would rather hear his sarcastic remarks than lies after lies spewing from the mouth of Hillary Clinton.
When Trump said, “I am committed to doing whatever it takes to win this election, and ultimately become president because our country cannot afford four more years of the failed Obama-Clinton policies, which have endangered our financial and physical security,” we, the silent majority of this country, believe in him.
As to that “survey” containing statements espoused by Trump that Jerry Cornfield mentioned, we, the silent majority, strongly agree.
