Among the Stars took the early lead and rolled to a powerful 6¼-length victory Sunday in the $18,800 feature race for older fillies and mares at Emerald Downs.
Ridden by Gallyn Mitchell, Among the Stars ran one mile in 1:36.17 and paid $6.60, $4.80 and $3.40.
Among the Stars has won three of four starts since being claimed by trainer Candi Tollett and owner John E. Parker, earning over $25,000 for her new
connections. A 4-year-old Harbor the Gold filly, she is 7-2-5 in 23 starts overall with earnings of $98,096.
Gunned to the lead from the No. 2 post, Among the Stars set fractions of :24.31, :46.88 and 1:10.73, opening a commanding eight-length lead, and pretty much coasted home unchallenged under Mitchell.
Call Me Cinderella, ridden by Joe Steiner, rallied from last to finish second and paid $5.80 and $3.80.
English Lace, ridden by Julien Couton, finished third and paid $6. Sunpenny, Krazy for Kugel and Diamonds Dena completed the order of finish.
