Auburn Riverside and Franklin Pierce remained knotted for first place in the SPSL 3A standings, and Auburn stayed right on their heels, as all three teams won last Friday afternoon.

The Ravens put together a six-run second inning, and went on to beat Auburn Mountainview, 10-7. That boosted Riverside’s league record to 7-3 (12-5 overall), leaving it dead even with Franklin Pierce, which beat Sumner, 6-3.

The Ravens and Cardinals split their two regular-season games, Franklin Pierce winning 4-0 on March 25, and Riverside hanging on last Tuesday, 9-8.

Sean Rehon of the Ravens went 3 for 4 with a double. Joe Briggs, Josh Hudson and Scott Shuman each with 2 for 3 with two RBIs apiece.

Auburn climbed to 6-3 in league (8-4 overall) with a 13-3 five-inning rout of White River. The Trojans had a seven-run first inning, and cruised from there. Ryne Briley, David Olsen and Garrett Rutledge all homered for Auburn. Olsen and Rutledge had three RBIs each.

The game was Auburn’s second of the week in which is broke into double digits. The Trojans beat Sumner last Tuesday, 10-6, the first time this spring they’ve score more than seven runs.

BOYS SOCCER: Ravens closing in on SPSL title

While everyone else is notching ties on SPSL 3A soccer fields, the Auburn Riverside Ravens keep racking up victories and points. And with four games left heading into this week, they are on the verge of securing the regular-season title.

Michael Rancipher and Adam Zeman scored goals on Friday night, while Jacob Baumann and Derek Hawn shared in the shutout as the Ravens beat White River, 2-0.

At 9-0-1, Auburn Riverside has 28 points – 10 more than Sumner, which played to a 0-0 tie against Auburn. That actually kept the Spartans undefeated in 10 league games. But six of those games have ended in ties, and at 4-0-6, they have just 18 points, good for second in the standings, but well behind the pace-setting Ravens.

Auburn Riverside had a chance to clinch the crown on Tuesday against Bonney Lake (results unavailable).
