Coaches from the Auburn and Auburn Riverside boys and girls basketball teams will don polo shirts and tennis shoes in conjunction with the Washington State Basketball Coaches Association and the American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 6.
The coaches, Auburn Riverside’s Tom Adams and Ed Rosin and Auburn’s Ryan Hansen and Ed Bender, will don the apparel to draw attention to the fight against cancer and encourage fans to turn out at this Friday’s boys and girls Auburn vs. Auburn Riverside games and donate to the ACS’s fight against cancer.
The boys game begins at 5:45 p.m. Friday at Auburn Riverside with the girls tipping off afterward at 7:30 p.m.
There will be an ACS table set up at the gym to distribute information about fighting cancer and collect cash donations. Last year the program raised $500 to contribute to the fight against cancer. This year’s goal is to raise more than last year.
“This could not happen without the cooperation of each of the four head coaches and their assistants, nor without the help of our community,” said Auburn Riverside boys basketball coach Tom Adams. “The four coaches from the four programs are putting on this event in conjunction with the games so that we can get as many people to the games at Riverside as possible, ready to give a dollar or two to help fight this horrible affliction.”
