Auburn, Auburn Mountainview girls place at Jaguar Invitational Girls Wrestling Tournament, Mountainview boys compete at Tahoma Mat Classic | Wrestling

The Auburn Mountainview girls wrestling team edged out Auburn at the Jaguar Invitational Girls Wrestling tourney, conducted this past Saturday at Emerald Ridge High School in Puyallup, taking home ninth place out of 23 teams with 63.5 points. The Trojans finished 10th with 60.5 points.

The Lions got first place finishes from Lilia Gudzyuk at 152 pounds and Alyssa Aquilar at 103 poinds. Alanna Alergia finished fifth at 171 pounds for Auburn Mountainview.

For the Trojans, Katryna Todd grabbed first at 145 pounds. Teammate Jessica Svendgand was third at 119 pounds and Keiko Mizaguchi was fifth at 130 pounds.

ELSEWHERE: The Auburn Mountainview boys wrestlers competed at the Tahoma Mat Classic over the weekend, taking home two first-place finishes and two second-place finishes.

At 103 pounds, Tyke Reid was edged out by Andrew Cunningham of Bonney Lake, 2-0, in the championship match.

Drew Dacey also took home a second-place finish, lsing 9-7 to Ares Carpio of Beamer in the title match.

Senior Tyler King was victorious at 152 pounds, winning by injury default against Damion Shehan of Shelton.

At 130, T.J. Peretti pinned Nick Garcia of Chiawana at the 5-minute, 2-second mark.

The Lions swing back into SPSL 3A action on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. meet at Peninsula.
