Auburn, Auburn Riverside post SPSL North 4A victories | BOYS HOOPS

The Auburn Riverside boys basketball team, behind four scorers in double figures, cruised past Kentwood 72-56 at Auburn Riverside High School last Tuesday night.

Senior Dustin Hegge led the Ravens (6-5 South Puget Sound League North 4A, 9-6 overall) with 15 points. Junior Cameron Grad had 14 points and senior Ryan Rogers and junior Cole Luckett each added 12 points. Senior Roman Tymchuk contributed nine points.

The Ravens shot out to a 38-23 halftime lead and held on to put away the Conks (6-5, 6-8) in regulation. Tre Tyler led Kentwood with 14 points and UCLA-bound senior Joshua Smith had 13 points.

The Ravens, currently fourth in the SPSL North, will host Kent-Meridian (1-10, 3-12) at 7:30 tonight.

ELSEWHERE:

Junior Kevin Henderson exploded for 25 points to lift the Trojans (6-5, 10-5) past Kent-Meridian 68-52 last Tuesday. Auburn built a 60-34 lead after three quarters and held on for the league win. Iszia Johnson added 12 points and Nick Hammond contributed 13 for the Trojans, who are currently third in the SPSL North race behind Federal Way and Kentridge. Auburn will host Kentlake (4-6, 5-9) at 7:30 tonight. … In SPSL 3A action, the Auburn Mountainview (4-5, 5-8) boys dropped a 78-47 decision to No. 5 Lakes (7-2, 11-2) last Tuesday at Auburn Mountainview High School. The Lions were held to just 20 first-half points, and were unable to overcome the 49-20 deficit in the second half. Neal Leatherman led the Lions with 11 points with Josh Alexander adding 11. Andre’ Winston Jr. led Lakes with 23 points. Auburn Mountainview travels to Franklin Pierce (7-2, 98-4) at 7 tonight and will host White River (4-5, 4-9) at 7 p.m. Saturday.
