Auburn boys and girls top Curtis | Track and Field
The Auburn boys and girls track and field teams notched wins in their dual against Curtis, Thursday at Auburn High School.
The boys took home first place in 11 of the meet’s 17 events to defeat the Vikings 82-59.
The Trojans were led by senior Max Pratt, who grabbed first place in the javelin with a 167-foot, 10-inch throw. Pratt – who was seventh at the 4A state meet last season – currently has the second best 4A javelin distance in the state with a 199-5.
Auburn also got first place finishes from: Alphonse Wade, 11.72 in the 100 meter; Cody Tedrick, 53.58 in the 400; Cody McCraine, 2:03.13 in the 800; Tyler Flannery, 10:58.09 in the 3,200; Demontra McNealy, 19.31 in the 110 hurdles; Cameron Gardner, 45.82 in the 300 hurdles; Cory English, 47-07.50 in the shot put; and Nick Conlan, 128.09 in the discus.
The Trojan 4×100 relay team of Wade, Raheem Latham, Woods and Allen Malone was first with a 44.38 time and the 4×400 relay team, with Kyle Morriss, Tedrick, Woods and McCrainie also took first with a 3:44.46 finish.
In the girls competition, the Trojans grabbed gold in 10 events to put away Curtis 78-71.
Sophomore Linda Karout dominated the hurdle events finishing first in both the 100 and 300, with times of 17.79 and 51.43, respectively.
Auburn also snagged first in the 800 – with Abi Shaver finishing with a 2:46.75 – and in the 3,200 – with Anna DeCarteret posting a 12:31.73.
In the throwing events, Auburn swept the Vikings with junior Siao Wilson earning gold in the shot put and discus with throws of 32-11.50 and 93-04, respectively.
Ashley Plemmons was first in the javelin with an 85-03.
In the 4×400 relay, Andrea Thunder Hawk, Shaver, Nicole Cramer and Ashley Brown finished first with a 4:33.15.
Brown also finished first in the high jump with a 4-06 and Alexis Moore was first in the pole vault with 8-00 vault.
The Auburn boys and girls track and field teams will compete at the Eason Invitational tomorrow at Snohomish High School and travel to Thomas Jefferson at 3 p.m. Thursday.
