Auburn Mountainview alum Kamana Nahaku was named USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award Week 7 Player of the Week on April 1.
Nahaku, currently playing baseball for the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, went 9-16 over four games spanning March 25-30.
His week began against Hawaii Hilo, where he went 3-6 with a double, a run batted in and also scored a run.
In a three game series against Cal State University at Northridge, Nahaku went 7-10 with five home runs and drove in 11 in that three game series. In game two against CSUN, Nahaku hit a go-ahead grand slam and followed that performance up with a three homer game the next day on March 30.
He was also named Big West Player of the Week after the series against CSUN. Nahaku began his career at Tacoma Community College before moving on to play for the Rainbows. In his time at Tacoma, he hit just two home runs over two seasons for the Titans. He now has six for Hawaii and is batting a whopping .348 (11th) in 26 games for the ‘Bows this season and has an OPS of 1.087, which is the seventh best in the Big West.
