Auburn Mountainview and Auburn Riverside begin play in state championships | Boys Water Polo

The Auburn Riverside and Auburn Mountainview boys water polo teams began play in the 2011 Boys South Sound High School Water Polo Championships on Thursday at Lakes and Rogers high schools.

The Raven boys, winners of the East Division, with a 5-0 league record, 6-2 overall, earned the No. 7 seed into the postseason and faced No. 11 Wilson (3-4, 5-8) and No. 2 Bellevue (5-5, 7-5) in Pool B play at Rogers.

The No. 5 seeded Lion boys, second-place in the East with a 5-1 league, 8-3 overall record, took on No. 9 Peninsula (4-6, 4-8) and No. 4 Rogers (9-0, 11-3) in Pool D play at Lakes.

Results of the contests were unavailable at press time, but the top-two finishers in pool play advance to the finals, to be conducted Friday and Saturday at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
