Auburn Mountainview bows out at district tournament | Prep fastpitch

The Auburn Mountainview girls fastpitch team compiled a 1-3 record at this past weekend’s West Central District III/Southwest District IV tournament at Sprinker Recreation Center in Tacoma. The Lions (13-12) opened with a first round upset of No. 10 Kelso (14-7) this past Friday, with sophomore pitcher Delene Coburn earning the win. Coburn also keyed the team offensively with 3-of-4 hitting, with two runs and four RBIs.

Junior outfielder Callie Kirk added 2-of-3 hitting with two RBIs and two runs scored and junior first baseman Quierra Bradford was

3-of-4 with an RBI.

In the second round of the tourney on Friday night, Auburn Mountainview faced a familiar foe in South Puget Sound League 3A foe Peninsula (20-4), the No. 8 ranked 3A team in the state. Seahawk pitcher and SPSL 3A Pitcher of the Year Aspen Ison proved too much for the Lions, who were blanked 5-0 and forced into the consolation brackets in the tournament.

The Lions were eliminated on Saturday by Mountain View (12-10) of Vancouver 4-1.
