The Auburn Mountainview boys and girls track and field teams will be well represented at this weekend’s West Central District III/Southwest District 4 3A meet at HighClimber Stadium in Shelton, with 19 individual athletes and five relay teams competing for berth to state.

The Lion girls finished third in the team competition at the South Puget Sound League/Seamount/Olympic 3A sub-district meet this past weekend in Sumner, with 107.5 points. Enumclaw grabbed the meet title with a 133.83 point finish.

Auburn Mountainview Junior Nicole Carter moves on to districts in the 100- and 200-meter races, with times of 12.94- and 26.46-seconds, respectively.

Senior Abi Alfrey finished first in the triple jump with a 34 foot, 8.50 inches mark and was fourth in the long jump with a 16-07.75.

Senior Maya Wagers qualified with fourth-place finishes in both hurdles races, running a 16.88 in the 100 hurdles and 50.16 in the 300 hurdles.

Junior Viktoriya Vasina was fifth in the triple jump with a 33-00.25 leap and sophomore Noami Maya-Mendoza moves on with a fifth-place finish in the 200 with a 27.17 mark.

In the throwing events, junior Rachel Greve notched a first-place javelin throw with a 108-11. Greve also qualified in the shot put, sixth with a 32-00.00, and the discus, sixth with a 97-09.

Sophomore Elli Alfrey was second in the javelin with a 105-03 and sophomore Heaven Palaita was second in the shot put with a 35-02.00.

Junior Maddy Taylor was first in the high jump with a 5-02.00 and freshman Tiffany Pott was fifth in the event with a 4-06.00.

The Auburn Mountainview 4×100 relay team, with Maya-Mendoza, Carter, Abi Alfrey and Alena Starverova, was second with a 50.88.

The 4×200 relay team, with Maya-Mendoza, Kelly Brudvik, Carter and Starverova, was fourth with a 1:47.81, and the 4×400 relay team with, Wagers, Viktoriya Vasina, Brudvik, Kaelyn Hanson, was fifth with a 4:22.37.

In the boys competition, the Lions finished fifth with 72.5 points in the team competition. The meet was one by Hazen with 107 points.

Senior Chris Scharer led the way with a 1:57.86, first-place finish in the 800.

Senior Devin Bryant qualified for districts in three individual events, finishing third in the 200 with a 23.05, fifth in the long jump with a 20-03.75 and sixth in the 100 with a 11.50.

Senior Aarun Rumbaugh was third in the 1,600 with a 4:34.60 and junior William Norris grabbed sixth in the 110 hurdles with a 17.55.

Sophomore Andrew Korchemniy earned sixth in the long jump with a 19-11.50 and sophomore Keegan Provo vaulted to a fifth-place, 12-00.00 finish in the pole vault.

In the throwing events, Nicholas Aumua led the way with a second in the discus with a 137-09 and a fourth in the shot put with a 42-11.00.

Sophomore Trevor Jensen was seventh in the shot put with a 41-06.25 and junior Malachi Fowler was fourth in the discus with a 123-02.

The boys 4×100 relay team,with Bryant, Elliot Pelfrey, Korchemniy and Ray Hardaway, was fifth with a 44.47.

The boys 4×400 relay team, with Rumbaugh, Hardaway, Pelfrey and Scharer, was fourth with a 3:34.99.

Senior JJ Lacey rounded out the Lion boys competitors, qualifying in the high jump with a sixth-place 5-06.00 and the triple jump with a fourth-place 40-06.00.

The West Central District III/Southwest District 4 3A meet begins Friday in Shelton and continues Saturday.

The top six competitors move on to Washington State 4A Track and Field Championships, May 23-25 at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma.
