After winning the state championship for the 11th time in school history, the Auburn Mountainview High School cheer team competed at the UCA Nationals in Orlando, Florida.
The trophy case is starting to reach max capacity for the Lions cheer team as they captured their third national championship title.
The Lions placed first out of 29 teams in the Small Game Day Non-Tumbling D1. But based on score, the Lions’ score of 98.4 was the second highest overall out of 1,183 teams at the national tournament. The 98.4 score was also the highest total the Auburn Mountainview cheer team has ever scored.
“The National High School Cheerleading Championships at ESPN is the most prestigious event for high school cheerleading, and we are honored to win a third year in a row,” said Head Coach Shana Biggs in a statement to The Reporter.
